In the hills just a few minutes’ drive from Aix-en-Provence, visit Paul Cézanne’s final home and workshop. In this veritable haven of peace, sheltered from prying eyes and in the heart of a Provençal garden, admire his precious belongings, the models for his final still life paintings, the furniture and the materials with which he worked. He lived in this beautiful home from 1902 until his death in 1906.
He worked every morning in this workshop; dozens of his paintings from his time in Lauves are exhibited in some of the finest museums in the world.
The Biennale d'Aix-en-Provence will run from Saturday September 21 to Saturday December 14, 2024, offering an exceptional program dedicated to contemporary music, visual arts and performance. During this period, Aix-en-Provence is transformed into a veritable artistic laboratory, where international artists and emerging creators meet. With concerts, installations and unique events, the Biennale invites the public to enjoy an immersive and original experience.

From 1 June to 6 October, Gallifet presents the exhibition Passe-Muraille, a selection of works from the Yvon Lambert collection. Begun in the 1960s, the works in the exhibition bear witness to a time when art was seeking new horizons, seeking freedom through bold explorations of the limits of artistic expression.
This exhibition, conceived and organised by the Collection Lambert et Gallifet, is an invitation to go beyond these walls. It takes us beyond borders, confronting us with new and open artistic expression.

One of the finest museums in France can be found in the centre of Aix-en-Provence: it’s home to 12,000 paintings, most of which come from legacies and acquisitions made over the years by the city of Aix-en-Provence.
Admire 10 paintings by Paul Cézanne, including The Bathers (Grandes Baigneuses), a still life and a portrait of his wife.
The incredible collection of Philippe Meyer: from Cézanne to Giacometti which he bequeathed to the French state, a total of 73 masterpieces including 19 works of art by Giacometti and paintings by Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee, Balthus, Giorgio Morandi, Bram van Velde, Nicolas de Staël and Tal Coat. Several rooms are dedicated to 19th-century French painting, featuring artwork by Ingres, Granet and Duqueylard. A unique collection of paintings from French, Nordic and Italian artists from the 15th to the 18th centuries. You can also marvel at sculptures of some of Aix-en-Provence’s greatest men, created by renowned sculptors. Several rooms are dedicated to archaeology, including a number of absolutely magnificent Celto-Ligurian sculptures.
