Festival de Pâques d'Aix-en-Provence, 10 years of emotion
The Easter Festival, the flagship event of the year in the Pays d'Aix, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an exceptional line-up of concerts from 31 March to 16 April, featuring some of the world's leading classical artists.
‘For a festival to be 10 years old is to have come of age: we've seen it grow, edition after edition, from 16 concerts to 33, from 6,000 spectators to nearly 30,000, from 400 artists to over 1,000...
It was a great moment of communion that saw Aix and the Grand Théâtre de Provence take their place in the European musical landscape.
We are proud to note that the young festival created in 2013 with the support of the CIC has come of age ten years later. Thoughtful and generous, reaching out to audiences with fewer opportunities, breaking new ground with its decentralised concerts, always welcoming young artists as part of the Génération @Aix programmes, the Easter Festival makes it a point of honour to ensure that the level of performance is increasingly astonishing every year.
In 10 years, we've welcomed the world's greatest performers, from Yo-Yo Ma to Daniel Barenboim, Martha Argerich to Anne-Sophie Mutter, and the greatest ensembles, from the Dresden Staatskapelle to the London Symphony Orchestra. We've experienced some extraordinary stories, some great moments of grace and immense emotion.
The 10th anniversary edition will of course be an opportunity to listen to some of the most sought-after international orchestras and soloists, but also to reunite for three exceptional concerts with all the musicians revealed by Génération @Aix since 2013.
A very happy anniversary and long life to the Festival de Pâques d'Aix-enProvence!’
